Aël da Silva

I'm Aël da Silva, a freelance illustrator and 2D frame-by-frame animator based in sunny San Diego. Inspired by the vibrant colors and folk art of my hometown in the Northeast of Brazil, I love to create my work through a bright and playful lens. The lively aesthetics of my hometown weren't just something I admired-they became part of me. This early exposure to a colorful and eclectic visual language would later serve as the foundation of my artistic identity.

At its core, my work is an obsession with finding beauty in the unnoticed. In this way, I love pulling back the curtains and exposing the craftsmanship, detail and love driving a project forward. I am particularly fascinated with connecting with viewers by utilizing clear form, color and animation as a tool to create simple snapshots providing a glimpse into the lifestyle vision of a product, brand or organization.

Simple shape language, impactful color choices and satisfying animation are my pillars for crafting an engaging and easily digestible story. Whether through a pop of neon pink in a nighttime scene or a vivid green sky, I hope to use color to imbue my work with with a sense of fantasy, as if even the most simple of moments could lead to something extraordinary. For me, storytelling is as much about movement as it is about color and form. I believe the inherit focus and detailed process of crafting each individual frame utilized in hand drawn animation is crucial to creating a well crafted representation of the value of an idea, process or product.

Ultimately, I want to convey a sense of respect and appreciation for the beauty of paying attention, inviting viewers to find that same joy in the often overlooked. I love working on projects that highlight this attention to detail, and convey a fresh and new perspective to the viewers.
